- Green Opal is a common opal (meaning it lacks the flashy “play-of-color” seen in precious opals), and gets its green hue from nickel or iron inclusions. It often forms in volcanic or sedimentary rock, and is primarily found in Australia, Madagascar, and Brazil. Unlike precious opals, it has a more matte, earthy look, and is commonly used for emotional wellness and heart chakra work.
