- Despite its name, Picasso Jasper isn’t a true jasper—it’s a type of marble, made from limestone that's been transformed by heat and pressure over time. The striking, abstract patterns that resemble ink or brush lines come from iron and manganese mineral inclusions. It's named for its resemblance to modern art, not its mineral class.
